The Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM) is the largest marathon as well as the largest mass participation sporting event in Asia. This year, SRLC participated at the TMM to raise funds for the construction of the new Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital, a 250-bed state of the art, multi-speciality charitable hospital for the less privileged in South Gujarat.

Each year, the TMM organises an award ceremony to honour and celebrate individuals and NGOs for their fund-raising performances. The TMM Charity Awards Night was held on 10th April at The Trident Hotel, Mumbai. The Awards Night was attended by several dignitaries like Shri Mahadev Jankar – Honourable Minister, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries, Government of Maharashtra; Tara Sharma – Film Actor; Rahul Bose – Film Actor and Director; Shaina NC – Fashion Designer and Politician; Anil Dharker – Columnist and Writer, Harish Bhat – Brand Custodian, Tata Sons and others. SRLC won several awards and citations:

• Highest Fundraising NGO Amongst the 262 participating NGOs, SRLC won the Highest Fundraising NGO award for the 8th year in a row by raising over Rs. 3.45 crores.

• NGO with Highest Number of Corporate Teams With the support of 27 corporate teams, SRLC proved to be the preferred NGO partner of leading companies, a testimony of the faith that corporates have in the sincere efforts by SRLC.

• NGO with Highest Number of Change Runners Change Runners are individuals who raise over Rs 1.50 lakhs for their selected NGO. SRLC had an incredible 51 Change Runners supporting its cause.

• NGO with Highest Number of Young Leaders Fundraisers up to the age of 21, who raise a minimum of Rs. 50,000 are considered as Young Leaders. 33 Young Leaders passionately supported SRLC and worked as a team to raise for the SRLC cause.

• NGO with Highest Number of Fundraisers Fundraisers are defined as those who have raised funds of at least Rs.10,000 from a minimum of 5 different donors. SRLC had the distinction of 55 such fundraisers achieving this milestone.

• Change Icon Mr. Abhay Jasani – President, Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur, received the Change Icon trophy for raising Rs. 50 lakhs.

SRLC also received the First Runner-Up award for the SRLC Motivational Zone on race-day. Prior to the TMM, SRLC was also invited to address the other participating NGOs on its strategy and fund-raising initiatives for the Mumbai Marathon, learning which was selflessly shared with all.

TMM was yet another opportunity for SRLC to make an impact and take strides in achieving the goal of spreading love and care to the less privileged. SRLC’s award-winning feat was covered in media like The Times of India, Hindustan Times, Gujarat Samachar, Janmabhoomi etc.
